Experience a day of era-defining creativity at Cannes Lions on 23 June, including an exclusive retrospective of 70 years of selected Lion-winning work, with commentary from the legendary makers themselves.

We've got a superb programme of industry titans and unique events lined up for you, as we countdown to the final Awards Show of Festival week.

Start the day by examining where we’ve been – and where we should be heading. Take your seat to hear the reflections of three iconic creatives as they share rare lessons from their careers.

Spike Lee: LIONS' First Creative Maker of the Year

Spike Lee won his first ever Award in 1983, as a student. Forty years later, he is one of the most influential figures in contemporary cinema and culture, and the first person honoured as Cannes Lions’ Creative Maker of the Year.

When the Festival was founded in 1954, the original Lion was created to recognise world-class creativity in TV and Cinema advertising. Seventy years later, this new award honours that heritage, and will celebrate an increasingly broad mix of creative makers who will bring ideas to life into the future.

The Award recognises Spike Lee as one of the most influential figures in contemporary cinema and culture, and as a maker who strives to make creative stories. Alongside receiving the award, you can hear Spike in conversation with director Barry Alexander Brown contemplating just how much ‘making’ something can influence the cultural landscape around you.
