Cannes Lions Live 2021 combines cutting-edge live and on-demand content, networking, community meet ups and performances - alongside the awards - all designed for the global creative community to come together and reset for the year ahead.
The Live Broadcast, supported by streaming partner, YouTube, features The Awards - the first-ever digitally broadcast Lions awards show, airing each day from Cannes, France, to celebrate and benchmark creative excellence across two years’ of Lion-winning work.
The Debrief sessions - a brand new format - will stream from the Cannes Lions Jury Presidents’ home cities, from Tokyo and New York to São Paulo, Manila and Beverly Hills. Featuring interviews with Presidents, jury members and Lion winners, The Debrief goes in-depth with discussions and analysis on the winning work and emerging industry trends. These sessions are available for all digital pass holders to watch, while LIONS Members can enjoy an elevated experience from the exclusive members-only viewing area.
Susie Walker, VP Awards & Insight, LIONS, comments,“The Debrief sessions will be packed with rich insights about the winning work. Each session - across the breadth of the Lions awards - will provide detailed analysis of the results and delve into why the Cannes Lions juries awarded their Lions - truly showcasing what Lion-winning creative excellence looks like today.”
The first Lions shortlists have now been announced for the Innovation Lions, Titanium Lions and Glass: The Lion for Change, and are available to view on The Work. Shortlisted entrants will present their work live to the juries, digitally, as part of the awards judging process.
The Titanium Lions shortlist comprises 20 entries from 10 countries, including Canada, Brazil, Germany, Ireland, Italy, United Arab Emirates and Sweden and the winners, including the coveted Grand Prix, will also be announced on Friday 25 June.
Glass: The Lion for Change announces 20 entries from 7 countries, including Brazil, Singapore, South Africa, Spain and Turkey, in the shortlist. Winners will be revealed at The Awards on Friday 25 June.
17 entries from 12 countries - including Peru, Colombia, Australia and Japan - form the Innovation Lions shortlist and Uruguay received a place on the Innovation Lions shortlist for the first time. Winners will be announced at The Awards on Thursday 24 June.
Innovation Lions Jury member, Joakim Borgström, Worldwide Chief Creative Officer, BBH, says: “It was inspiring to see how nothing could lockdown creativity. This is evident in the Innovation Lions, where there are so many ideas that give back to the planet and humanity. I feel great about what we, as an industry, are capable of.”
Simon Cook, Managing Director, LIONS, said, “We’re delighted to announce the first shortlists, across two years’ of creative work, for the first time in Cannes Lions’ history. Thanks to all of our jurors from right across the globe who play a vital part in benchmarking creative excellence and setting the creative bar for the future.”
