Equity, Representation and Accessibility Programme FAQs
In 2024, LIONS introduced the Equity, Representation and Accessibility (ERA) Programme, allocating up to €1m worth of complimentary passes to foster a diverse and inclusive representation of talent within the creative communications industry at Cannes Lions. For 2025 we will allocate €2m complimentary Festival passes, with a focus on the Global South.
The ERA Programme is available to any organisation, community or individual that promotes diversity and inclusion within the creative industry.
Underrepresented and underserved communities refer to communities and individuals who have been historically marginalised and oppressed due to an element (or multiple elements) of their personal identity. Underrepresented and underserved communities include but are not limited to Black people, Indigenous peoples, disabled people, refugees and asylum seekers, internally displaced people, minority religious groups, marginalised ethnic groups, LGBTQ+ communities, marginalised socioeconomic groups.
The programme gives you access to the 2025 Cannes Lions Festival, taking place from 16-20 June 2025. It offers you the opportunity to experience the Festival in person, and celebrate the world’s best creativity with your global industry peers. This pass only covers Festival entry and doesn’t include funding for travel or accommodation expenses.
The ERA Programme does not include any funding or discounts for travel or accommodation costs. Recipients are responsible for arranging and funding their own travel and accommodations.
Apply for the ERA Programme by completing and submitting the application form.
Under the ERA programme you can apply for our Classic, Student & Young Lion Pass:
- Our Young Lion pass is for delegates 30 and under (born on or after 21 June 1994). Proof of age will be required upon registering.
- Our Student pass is for students in full-time education under the age of 23 (specifically, born on or after 21 June 2001). Proof of age and enrolment will be required upon registering.
- Our Classic Pass is for everyone.
All three passes offer the same Festival access. Check out our pass comparison table for the full benefits and access levels of each pass type.
Currently, passes received under the ERA Programme cannot be upgraded to Brand Marketer, Gold, or Platinum levels. We are committed to ensuring that the ERA Programme remains focused on its core mission of fostering equitable access to the Festival for underrepresented and underserved communities. However, we are always reviewing our offerings and listening to feedback, and we may consider including upgrade options in future editions of the Festival.
Absolutely, yes! We encourage you to apply again this year for the ERA Programme.
Yes! If you received a pass through the ERA Programme in in 2024 you are welcome to apply again. However, priority will be given to applicants who have not previously been accepted onto the ERA Programme to ensure we are able to reach as many communities as possible.
Typically, passes allocated under the ERA Programme are not transferable to later years. Each festival edition requires a new application to maintain an equitable process.
However, we will consider exceptions for transferring passes under extenuating circumstances. Applicants facing exceptional or mitigating situations are encouraged to contact us directly with their circumstances, and each case will be reviewed on an individual basis.
We encourage previous applicants who could not attend, and who do not meet these criteria, to reapply for the upcoming festival with a new application.
